A New Format for 2019

Coast Fest, run by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, is Georgia's largest celebration of our state's coastal natural resources. The 25th edition of this annual event will take place on Saturday, October 5th from 10 am until 4pm. More than 70 interactive environmental, educational, and resource organizations will offer visitors a chance to learn about Georgia's coastal resources and have some fun at the same time.

This year the festival takes place in Mary Ross Waterfront Park in Brunswick, so we will not be able to do our usual exhibit along the nature trail. However, the DNR generously offered us space for a booth at the festival.

What do we need? Your photos! Although we can’t sell our work at the event (no vending is allowed by anyone), we can show off our talented members’ work and spread the word about our guild.

How to Submit

Members are welcome to submit ONE piece each for display at the show. (If we need additional photos, we will solicit members again.) Photos should showcase the ecology or culture of the coastal Georgia environment.

Photos must be able to hang on a grid wall system (wired backs and sawtooth hangers are acceptable). There are no limitations on framing, and you are welcome to submit canvases, metal prints, acrylics, and other photo media, as long as they have a mechanism for hanging.

The longest outer edge should not exceed 30 inches. Please note this is an outdoor event with greater risks than a typical gallery environment. This is not the place to hang a photo in an expensive, antique frame with museum quality (expensive) glass.

Photos will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Please submit ONE digital image and outer dimensions via email to cpgssimail@gmail.com. Put Coast Fest Entry in the subject line of the email.

Photo drop off will be at Jillisa’s photography studio (Light Unlocked, 301 Gloucester Street, Brunswick) on Friday, October 4, between 1:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Please note that is first Friday, so from 5:00 to 8:00 pm the streets will be crowded and parking may be more difficult than usual. (The block in front of the studio will be closed to car traffic starting at 4:00.) If you cannot drop off your photo during that time frame, check with Jillisa on making different arrangements.

Our booth is fully staffed with volunteers. Thank you to Lynn Cates, Elma Andrews, Jim Patrick, Shirley Robinson, Michael Milner, and Jillisa Milner for your time!
